Celebrate Mom with Glitz Designs

Happy Friday dear friends!  I can hardly believe we are at the end of April already!! Seems like the month just flew right on by.  In just a few short days, it will be time to celebrate those women who are so very special in our lives.  I love Mother's Day and all that it entails!! It also means that my kids will either come home or call me at some point in the day and I look forward to spending time with them!!  I'm so sad to say that my mom is no longer with us, but each year I make a card in remembrance of her!  I was excited to design some Mother's Day cards with Glitz Design's Laced with Grace Collection!  What a gorgeous line of papers!!  So perfect for Mother's Day cards, or any type of card for that matter!!
I died some seam binding with Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Reinker and added some blue buttons to enhance the blue in the chair.  I also layered a Laced with Grace Glitzer on top of a Laced with Grace Whatnot and I love the combination! Glitz Designs embellishments are so fun to work with and give you so many possiblities!
 Supplies used:
Glitz Designs "Laced with Grace" patterned Papers: Polka and Rose
Glitz Designs "Laced with Grace" Stamps
Glitz Designs "Laced with Grace" Glitzers
Glitz Designs "Laced with Grace" Whatnots

The next card is very simple and easy.  It will take you all of 2 minutes to put together!  I think the whatnot word collage sets the tone of the card and the rest just falls into place!
I layered some cardstock with a Laced with Grace Whatnot, added some ribbon then attached a Laced with Grace Journaling Sticker over the ribbon.  I added a Laced with Grace Glitzer, cut out and attached some butterflies and added some jewels and a bow.

Make it Monday Challenge

Hi there dear friends!!!  I hope you are safe and sound and staying out of all the nasty weather!  We are still having blizzarding conditions, but I will never complain again.  My heart goes out to all of you who live in the south and have been affected by these nasty storms!!

As for me, I have Mother's Day on my mind these days.  I miss my mom so much, some days it still squeezes my heart nearly in two.  Thank goodness I have kids of my own that I can love, hug and encourage!  Here's a quote that deserve repeating:
Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs... since the payment is pure love.  ~Mildred B. Vermont
I just love being a mom and I wouldn't change it for the world!!!  There are days that I wish I could kiss my kid's hurts and make them better, but I can listen, encourage and love them with all my heart!

So in celebration of all moms everywhere, I made my PTI Make it Monday Challenge.
Here's the challenge:
Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge.  Your project must use at least one Papertrey product of some kind and a drawn frame.

Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

Hi there dear friends!!! It's time for the PTI April Blog Hop!!!  This month the challenge was to make a masculine card.  Those of you who follow my blog, know how difficult it is for me to make a card without flowers, bows, pearls and all of those "girly" embellishments.  I am proud to say however, that I was able to get in touch with my "masculine" side and I created a card without using my favorite goodies.  I almost made a bow for the card, and caught myself and used twine instead!  I am pretty happy with my card and I look forward to making many more "masculine" themed cards!

Here's the Challenge:

The-Challenge
This month's blog hop is dedicated to all the boys and men in our lives!  Now's your chance to create Father's Day projects, boy birthday cards and more to build up your stash!  Focus on masculine color schemes, fresh pattern combinations, understated embellishments and unique uses of images you may already have in your stash!
and here's my take on the challenge:
I used Papertrey Ink's Train Tracks stamps and I had a blast playing with them!!

This set is perfect with Copic Markers, although I would love to stamp and fussy cut the image at some time too!

PTI Stamps:  Train Tracks, Through the Trees, and Fly Away

Time to Get Girly with Wee Memories

Hi there dear friends!!!  I hope you are having a wonderful Easter weekend!  This is my favorite time of the year!! I am thankful for new life, for warmer weather and most of all for My God and Risen Savior who gave His Life for you and me!

I wanted to share a quick card I made for the Wee Memories Challenge as well as for an upcoming class I am offering in May (see upcoming class offerings in the side bar).

Here's the Challenge:
This weeks challenge is "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". So for this week you will create projects with a girly
theme i.e. dresses, purses, shoes, hairbows, girly colors, etc. Anything Girly!!

Here's my take on the challenge:
A quick and easy floral card!  You can't get any more girly than flowers!!!   I carried on the 1 stamp 3 ways from my previous post and made one more card with the Bird Collage stamp.  This time I used just the flower image and stamped it three times on patterned paper and then fussy cut the image.  I layered the flowers over the stamped leaf images and added some borders to the card.  Super simple and yet very effective!
Supplies used:
Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe Patterned Paper
Papertrey Ink Stamps: Flower Fusion #2
Ribbon:  PTI Hawaiian Shores Grosgrain
Die: PTI Medium Scallop
Kaiser Craft Pearls

Thanks for stopping by!!! I wish you a very Happy Easter!!!!

Exciting News to Share!!

Good Morning Dear friends!!!  I have some very exciting news to share with you!!!!

I am so happy to announce that I have been asked to be a guest designer at Two Peas in a Bucket for their 30 days of Stamping and Cardmaking Event!!!

Whooo hoo!!  If you haven't had a chance to follow this event at Two Peas you can check it out here.  They have invited Tim Holtz, Wendi Vecchi, Kimber McGray, Lucy Abrams, Jennifer McGuire, Ali Edwards, Debbie Olson.....and I can't believe it, yes, they invited me!!!  I am beyond thrilled!!!  You should see the huge smile on my face!!!  :)

I was asked to use one stamp three ways....which is one of my favorite types of projects!!!
Here is the stamp that I chose to play with:
and here is the set of cards I created using this stamp:

There are so many possibilities when you play with a collage stamp!!  I paired the stamp up with Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe Collection and I loved the results!!!

In the first card, I stamped the image onto cream cardstock and inked the edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress ink. I stamped the image again onto cream cardstock and then I colored in the bird, flower, and leaves with Copic Markers. I fussy cut the colored images and glued them onto the first stamped image to create dimension.

Copic Markers are so fun to play with!  Look at the dimension in the flower!!
I layered three sheets of patterned paper under the stamped image and added a bow!  Such pretty papers in this line!!!
In the second card, I used the stamp as a background image. I inked the floral edge of the stamp with Versamark Ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.
So different from the first card, you wouldn't even know you used the same stamp!  What a great way to dress up plain cardstock!

The third card shows the image stamped in black on patterned paper. Simple and easy, yet very effective. Thanks for looking!

 Supplies Used:
Papertrey Ink Cardstock
Hero Arts Stamp:  Bird Collage
Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe 6x6 pad
Copic Markers
Prima Lace
Papertrey Ink Ribbon, buttons, and button twine
Recollections Florals

Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my joy!!!  I am very thankful and humbled indeed!!

Little Red Scrapbook Reveal

Hi there dear friends!!  I hope all is well with you tonight!  We are still experiencing snowy weather, but little by little the grass is growing greener and the hope of spring is still very much alive!!

It's that time of the month to share my Little Red Scrapbook work with you!  This month's kit features Fancy Pants, It's The Little Things Collection!! What an awesome line of papers, rub-ons and goodies are featured in this month's kit!!

This first layout features a picture of my sweet Bethany in her Easter Bonnet.  Isn't she the cutest?
I just love the lace paper included in the kit!  You know I just had to cut it apart and put it together on my layout!  I also love the rub-ons in this kit! Way fun to work with!!
In the next layout I was inspired by the florals in the kit.   This is another picture of Bethany hunting for eggs and the floral and leaves coordinated with the dress she was wearing.
I added some crinkle seam binding and rub-ons to enhance the floral and the title. The title was stamped with Papertrey Ink egg hunt stamps.
Here is a close-up of the rub-ons with a lace paper butterfly layered on top.
I love the stamp images included in the papers.  I thought they would make a cute card!
I cut apart one of the glitter word borders to make the sentiment stand out on my card.
The papers in this next layout were also favorites in this kit and I thought they enhanced the photo of my kids perfectly!  This is one of my favorite photos taken by Susan Beth Breuner.  Thanks again Susan Beth!  You're the best!
I decided it would be fun to die cut the corrugated paper that was included in the kit using Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die.  I love how it turned out!!
I just loved this kit and I hope you were able to get one of your own!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Get Your Glitz On Challenge 1

Happy Friday dear friends!! I am so happy it is finally the weekend! Today was a crazy day. The roads were icy on the way to work and it snowed the entire day. Thank goodness it really is Spring and the snow doesn't stay around very long. I have heard that tomorrow it is supposed to be in the 50's which will be like a heatwave and I will be very thankful. Thank goodness that winter isn't year 'round...it just feels like it here in Montana!! Since it is so sloppy outside, this evening is a perfect time to play in my scraproom!! If you are needing a project to work on, I have just the challenge for you!!! The Get Your Glitz On Challenge #1!!!
For my first project, I used my new favorite Glitz Design Collection, Afternoon Muse!!! Check out the colors and patterns in this collection!!! Absolutely beautiful!!I also used the Card Positioning Systems sketch for this week which looks like this:
and here's my take on these challenges:
Aren't the little girls as sweet as can be???? I just love it! I added some vintage music banners, a crinkly bow, pearls, button and a rose. This card is one of my favorites to date!!
I cut out the banner out of Papertrey Ink coaster board using the Papertrey Ink Double Ended Banners. I glued the vintage music paper on top of the coaster board for dimension.I used the PTI Banner Builder Collection to trim the vintage music banners and added a pearl to each one.

Supplies used:
Glitz Design Afternoon Muse Collection Paper Layers
Glitz Design Afternoon Muse Collection Paper: Banner
Papertrey Ink Cardstock: Kraft and Rustic Cream
Vintage Hymnal Music
PTI Button Twine and Button
Stamp: PTI Embellisments
Ribbon: MemrieMare
Floral: Recollections

Card #2 is a little different, but fun just the same. My favorite collection from last summer's release is Love Nest by Glitz Design!! So many pretty colors and papers!!! Way fun to work with for sure!! One of my favorite techniques is to stamp on patterned paper to enhance the stamped image and fussy cut. The balloons are from Stampin Up several years ago and the cake is from Glitz Design.I layered the fussy cut images onto patterned paper that was layered onto Lemon Tart cardstock and Embossed with Stampin Up's Square Lattice embossing folder.
So many fun colors in the Love Nest Collection!
I popped up the balloons and added some twine for effect and also some pearls to the cake!! So much fun!! I also had to finish the inside of this card too!
Supplies Used:
Glitz Design Love Nest Collection: Strip and Floral
PTI Cardstock: Kraft, Lemon Tart, Rustic Cream
Stamps: Glitz Design Cake, Stampin Up Happy Birthday, and PTI Make a Wish
PTI button twine
Kaiser Craft Pearls
Embossing Folder and Scallop Punch: Stampin Up
