World Card Making Day is upon us and we are Celebrating at AC Bailey!
It began in 2006 as National Card Making Day. Founded by Paper Crafts magazine to bring card makers together at the beginning of the busiest card-making season of the year, it was first held on October 7, 2006. The initial celebration involved the Paper Crafts magazine audience only; however, due to the positive response it received and the worldwide popularity of card making, the holiday became known as World Card Making Day from then on.
It is now in its fourth year, World Card Making Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday in October. It's a day for the card-making community -- hobbyists, retailers, and manufacturers -- to unite and celebrate the connection and creativity that is the heart of card making. World Card Making Day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world to Celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family as well as to kick off (and get a head start on) the holiday card-making season.
How many of YOU have already started your Christmas cards??? We here at AC Bailey want IN on the festivities too! So, we are coming together this weekend to make 100 cards!!!! There will be fun, prizes and cards galore...what are you waiting for?? Join us tonight and into the weekend and see if we can meet our goal of 100 cards!!!
Here is one of my challenges: Decorative Punched Border Thank You Cards!!
Decorative Borders really dress up a card! With this card I used the Threading Water Punch which is one of my all-time favorite punches!! I cut some Swiss Dot Cardstock 4.25 x 10 and punched the bottom edge before I folded the card. After I punched the edge, I folded the card so that the punched edge was approximately 1/4 inch longer than the back edge. It makes for an interesting a different twist on an ordinary card. I cut out some October Afternoon papers 4"x3" and 4" x 1.75" and layered them over the Swiss Dot paper. I added some lace, at tag, buttons, and a stamped embellishments to the front, and I have a thank you card ready to go!!!
