Hugs and Kisses with Glitz Design

Happy last day of January my friends!!  Valentine's Day is right around the corner and I'm totally inspired by all things red, pink, hearts and flowers!!  This month's Glitz Design Challenge fits right in with my Valentine inspiration and I am hoping that you'll join in on the fun!!!  The focus is on color:

I do have to say that this is one of my all time favorite color combinations and I thoroughly enjoyed playing along!!!  I really wanted to challenge myself to make a card using red as the main color, which would be a bit tricky since I don't currently have any red Glitz Design papers.  I was able to pull the red highlights out of aBeautiful Dreamer Whatnot using red cardstock and wrinkled ribbon.  I am thrilled with how it turned out!
I used a heart doily to add texture and create a shabby chic feel to the card.  The sentiment was made using Beautiful Dream Epoxy Stickers.
In this photo you can see that I layered a Peek a boo over the patterned paper to give the card depth and interest.

Supplies Used:
Glitz Design Beautiful Dreamer Patterned Paper: Polka
Glitz Design Beautiful Dreamer Whatnots
Glitz Design Beautiful Dreamer Peek a Boos
Glitz Design Beautiful Dreamer Epoxy Words

Other Supplies:  Papertrey Ink Rustic Cream and Pure Poppy Cardstock; My Craft Spot Wrinkled Ribbon; Button and doily from my stash

My second card is sweet and romantic....so very Beautiful Dreamer inspired:
I used Beautiful Dreamer Papers and a Whatnot to make the layered base.  I added a heart shaped doily and a Rose Whatnot to create the beautiful focal point and I added some ribbon, hat pins, and Filigree Border to embellish.
Supplies used:
Glitz Design Beautiful Dreamer Papers: Polka and Stripe
Glitz Design Beautiful Dreamer Whatnots

Other Supplies:  Papertrey Ink Stamper's Select White Cardstock, Friendship Jar Spring Filler Stamps, Double-Edged Banner Die and Filigree Border Die, My Craft Spot Wrinkled ribbon and Red Bakers Twine;  Floral Ribbon and Doily from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you'll join in the Glitz Design Challenge fun!!!
Wishing you a very Glitzy Day,
Kristii

Glitz Design Happy Travels Reveal

Hi there dear friends!!  I hope you are enjoying your Sunday!  I have one last Glitz Design reveal to share with you today!!!  The Happy Trails papers are so pretty and the colors are perfect for home decorating projects!  I made a twin pair of topiaries to add color and beauty to a corner table or any space that needs a pick me up!

I think I must have made around 140-150 flowers for these topiaries.  The flowers are so fun to make and aren't too hard at all...just a little time consuming!!

Flower making Tutorial:
1.  Cut 60-80 5-inch circles.  I like to add a wave to my circles to create an easy way to bend the petals back.
2.  Cut an even spiral in your circles leaving a round base on the inside of your spiral.

3.  Roll the spiral beginning with the oustide edge tightly.  Allow the rolled rose to relax and glue the rolled flower with hot glue to the base you created when you cut the spiral.
4.  Once the hot glue is dry, cover the rose pteals with Tim Holtz Rock Candy Stickles.  This will allow the rose to become pliable and allow you to bend the edges of the petals backward to add depth and interest. The stickles also adds a glittery shine to your flowers!
5.  Ink the edges of the petals. To add more depth and interest.
I look forward to making more of these for my corner table.  They are a wonderful decoration!!
Thanks for stopping by!!
I hope you enjoyed all the fun projects I was able to create with all the wonderful Glitz Designs Goodies!!
I look forward to creating more Glitz Goodies in the days to come!
Hope you have a wonderful day,
Kristii

Glitz Design Pretty In Pink Reveal!!!!

Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness!!!  I just can't contain my excitement!!  Pretty in Pink has got to be my favorite line ever!!!!!  I am so very blessed and oh so fortunate to have been able to play with these papers and put together some fun projects for CHA.  Today's project is one of my favorite projects ever.  I used some photos that my dad took of my sweet daughter Bethany during Christmas Break and made a sweet little mini album using quotes from legendary actress Audrey Hepburn.  The Pretty In Pink Title Sticker on the front page of the album was the inspiration:
Everything about this line is sooooo beautiful!!!  From the Title Stickers and the Peek a Boos in the photo above....
to the Paper Layers, Stamps, Glitzers and Giant Rhinestones in the photo below!!!
I just can't say enough how much I love this line!!!
Everything about it is absolutely divine!!!
This is my favorite patterned paper in the line.  I cut out the banner and bird and painted it with Tim Holtz Rock Candy Crackle Paint by Tim Holtz and I also sprayed some Glimmer mist on it.  Sigh....it's just soooo pretty!!!
I ended the album by giving proper credit where credit is due.  Thanks to Audrey Hepburn for giving us so many quotes to contemplate!!
Thanks again to my dad who took amazing photos of my sweet girl!! I couldn't have put this together without you!!!

Thanks for allowing me to share my work with you!!!
I appreciate you beyond measure!!!

Glitz Design French Kiss Reveal!!!

Happy Friday dear friends!!!  I'm sooooo excited to begin the Winter 2012 Glitz Design Reveal!!!!  Today is all about Glitz Design French Kiss!!!  The burlap papers in this line are absolutely fabulous and my favorite part of the whole line are the Whatnots.  Below, I've made a banner featuring the Whatnots from this collection!  I simply adore them!
The banners are made from starched burlap.  I added some Glitzers from the Pretty in Pink line that I mounted onto Rustic Cream Banners.  They worked out perfectly with my theme, "be."
I also added a little lace trim to all of the banners.
The following banner is my favorite!! I just love the dress form with roses!! So very chic!!
The Giant Rhinestones in each of the lines are positively lovely too!
and here's the last panel!! I have got to get my hands on some more of these Whatnots!! The possibilities are endless!
Such an easy little banner to put together, but it will dress up any special space reserved just for you!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing in the Glitz Design excitement!!!
I can't wait to share the Mini Album I made using the Pretty in Pink line tomorrow!!!
Have a wonderful day,
Kristii

Little Red Scrapbook BLOG HOP

Welcome to Little Red Scrapbook's "Out with the Old, In with the New" Blog Hop!  With the start of the new year we all like to set goals and think of new ways to get organized.  With this in mind our talented Design Team has come up with some fun challenges that may help you get started.

Here's the scoop:

STEP 1:  First you will need to leave a comment on the LRS blog and tell us what goal or organization idea you have for the New Year.  This will not only inspire all of us with your goal or idea, but it will also get your name entered into a random drawing for a chance to win the blue colored inspired “hodgepodge” prize. Pretty easy so far right!

STEP 2: Second you will need to visit all FIVE blogs and leave a comment on EACH blog.  This is important so we know you have been to all of the blogs.  If you have left a comment on each of the blogs your name will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win the orange colored inspired “hodgepodge” prize.  Another easy peasy way to win!

STEP 3: Once you’ve done that, you will need to check out our Facebook page, and LIKE us. This will put your name in another random drawing for a chance to win the green colored inspired “hodgepodge” prize.

STEP 4: For a chance to win the Love LRS Grand Prize head on over to our message board and say hello, then upload your project and/or layout for any of the design team challenges posted on their blogs to the “2012 Out with the Old, In with the New” gallery. The Blog Hop challenges will run from January 27th until midnight January 30th. You can enter as many times as you like. You do not need to be a subscriber to participate. The more entries, the more chances you have to win!

Then on February 1st, be sure to check out our Facebook page, or visit the LRS community or the LRS blog to see if you are one of the lucky winners!

Now to the fun part of my post:

One of my favorite things to do when the new year arrives is to choose a Word of the Year.  "A word that would basically encompass my goals and define what I am striving to do or become during the year." This year, the word I've chosen is "Trust".  This word will hold many meanings for me in 2012.  The greatest being "trusting in the Lord with all my heart, mind, soul and strength".  The greatest test of this will be when my son leaves to serve with the U. S. Army Military Police in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.  It is my hope that in the year 2012, I will grow in my faith and Trust in the Lord rather than lean on my own understanding.

My Challenge for you is to create a project using your "Word of the Year".
The next stop on the Hop is my dear friend Nikki!!
Good Luck and I hope you have a lot of fun playing along!!

Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop

Hi there dear friends!  I hope all is well with you!  My day was not what I expected it to be.  I went to work fine and dandy and ended up going home at 9:30 with the restroom being my closest friend.  Not fun, indeed!  After a much needed three hour nap and reading a little bit of Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay, I was feeling a little better.  I decided to get out the card I had started for the January Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and see what I could do with it!

Here's the challenge:

The-Challenge
This month, in honor of the New Year, we are challenging you to pick your favorite project from 2011 and share it with all of us. To take it a step further, you are challenged to create a second card that is inspired by the favorite project you select. Your new version of an old favorite could carry over the color scheme, the layout or the stamp sets. We look forward to seeing your best creations from 2011, as well as your first projects from 2012!
Here's the card I chose:
and here's my take on the challenge:
I used some scraps of Glitz Design Pretty In Pink, Happy Travels and French Kiss Papers.  I cut down each panel to size, inked the edges, and stamped each one with different Papertrey Ink Stamps.  I stitched each panel and adhered the panel to the card base.
I added some stamped die cuts, Glitz Design Giant Rhinestones, Ribbon, button and twine to embellish the card.
Supplies used:
Papetrey Ink Rosie Posie Stamps and Die Cuts

Papertrey Ink Background Basics Hearts
Papertrey Ink Blooming Button Bits Sentiment
Papertrey Ink Fine Linen Ribbon and Button
Papertrey Ink Rustic Cream Cardstock
Papertrey Ink Hawaiian Shores and Raspberry Fizz Ink
Glitz Design Pretty in Pink, French Kiss, and Happy Travels Papers and Giant Rhinestones
Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink
Memento Ink Tuxedo Black

Well, I'm off to bed a little early tonight!
A little extra sleep will do me some good!
Hope you have a wonderful day,
Kristii

A Little Antiquated and a Glitzy Sneak

Hi there dear friends!!  I've been ignoring my blog over the past week, but I have a very good excuse!! Shhhhh.....don't tell, but I've been playing with my three new favorite lines of paper!!!  Yes, I've been playing with the new Glitz Design goodies and I have to tell you that all three lines are my favorite Glitz Design lines ever!!!!  Have you seen them yet?
All three are absolutely fabulous, but I do have to say that Pretty in Pink is my very favorite of this release!!!  I can't wait to show you what I've made so far with each line, but I can show you a little peek of a mini album that I made:
The papers are gorgeous and all the embellies are just perfect!!  I can't tell you enough how much I love Glitz Design!!!

I also used some of the leftovers that I had and made a little Valentine's Card using Lisa Pace's Antiquated line of stamps by Pink Persimmon.  I used these stamps:
and made this fun little vintage style card:
I stamped the Glitz Design Pretty in Pink Toile Paper with Papertrey Ink's Background Basic Hearts stamps in brown and inked the edges.  I added a French Kiss Labels panel and layered a heart doily and a Glitz Design Beautiful Dreamer sticker over the top over the top.  I added some lace and stitched a die cut heart border over the top.  The pearls added that special touch to the card.
I added some hand died seam binding from My Craft Spot and a PTI Double Edged Border die cut stamped with a Friendship Jar Spring Filler Sentiment.

Supplies used:
Lisa Pace's Antiquated line of stamps by Pink Persimmon
Papertrey Ink Heart Border Die, Background Basics-Hearts Stamps, Double Edged Border Die, Rustic Cream Cardstock, Friendship Jar Spring Fillers Stamps
Prima Lace and Floral
Joann's Heart Doily
Recollections Pearls
Hand died seam binding from My Craft Spot

I am so hoping to participate in Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop tomorrow....I am going to work like crazy on a card when I get home!!!  On Friday Little Red Scrapbook will be having a Blog Hop too!!  I hope you join in the fun!!
Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

CupCards {to Go} Valentine Kit Reveal

Happy Tuesday dear friends!!  I am so excited to share the CupCards {to go} Valentine's kit reveal with you today!!!
Isn't the kit sweet as can be??   You can find out more about this kit here!!
My first card is based on the CupCards {to go} January Sketch.  Here's the sketch:
and here's my card:

and a close-up of some of the fabulous little goodies included in the kit!

My second project, Heart Doily Pocket, features two little heart lace doilies that are included in the kit:
I attached the two doilies together and added a handle using the covered wire that is included in the kit.  I used buttons on the inside of the doily to reinforce and add stability to the handles.
There are lots of layers in the next card!!  I just loved all the tags and journaling cards included in the kit!!  They're perfect for layering!
I used some PTI dies (Wonderful Words and Block Alpha) to add to the sentiment of the card.  I also used PTI's Quatrefoil die to add to the background and a ribbon left over from the Christmas kit to embellish.
I just love the papers included in the kit!! The XOXO papers are sooooo cute!!!  I used a sweet little Kraft envelope left over from a previous kit to put little love notes inside the card.
My flower was a bit too soft of a pink, so I colored it with a Copic Marker and it works much better in this card!
The next card is a fun little Valentine Thank you card!  I punched out the hearts using a small hole punch and created a cute little border and used a Papertrey Ink sentiment to round out the card!
I also made the following two cards using the kit...
and I have ideas for several more....
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at all the fun I had with this month's kit!!
I wish you a fabulous day!!!
