Fun and Easy Gifts with Glitz Design Paper Layers

Happy Wednesday dear friends!!  I am excited to share some fun and easy gifts using Glitz Design Paper Layers today!  I don't know about you, but I am always needing a quick gift for a friend and I never seem to have that special something on hand.  Well, today, we are going to take care of that problem and you will always have a special homemade gift right within reach!

It seems that altered Moleskine Journals are all the rage these days.  You can alter them in many different ways from a simple stamp alteration to a full blown scrapbook page type cover.  You can find Moleskine Journals with blank pages for an art journal or you can use lined pages for a written journal.  They come in regular, large or extra large sizes and they also come in several different colors. Today, I chose to use the Kraft Moleskine Cahier Large Ruled Notebook (5.25 x 8.25) for the base of my project:

then, I found my favorite Glitz Design Paper Layers and got to work and this is what I came up with:
I layered some Glitz Design "Love Games" Poppies patterned paper on top of the journal and added a slightly smaller Glitz Design "Laced with Grace paper layer on top.  Then I embellished with lace, buttons, vintage ephemera, Afternoon Muse Peekaboo, florals and ribbon.  It took no time at all to decorate the notebook and now I have a special gift for that dear friend who needs encouragement or just a little gift to brighten her day!!
I added a pen, bookmark, and a list of journal prompts to complete the ensemble and before I give it away, I will tie the entire package with a bow.

Supplies used:
Glitz Design "Love Games" Poppy Patterned Paper
Glitz Design "Laced With Grace" Paper Layer
Glitz Design "Afternoon Muse" Peekaboo

Other Supplies:  Prima Lace and Floral; Papertrey Ink Buttons and Button Twine; Hand dyed Seam Binding; Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden Vintage Ephemera

I liked the project so much I decided to use a card I made with Glitz Design Goodies as the inspiration for another altered journal.  The Glitz Design Afternoon Muse Paper Layer I used is my favorite design by Glitz!  Sigh...I may have to buy more of these Paper Layers for sure!!!

Supplies used:
"Glitz Design Afternoon Muse Collection" Paper Layers
"Glitz Design Afternoon Muse Collection" Paper: Banner
Papertrey Ink Cardstock: Kraft and Rustic Cream
Vintage Hymnal Music
PTI Button Twine and Button
Stamp: PTI Embellisments
Ribbon: MemrieMare
Floral: Recollections

I hope this idea inspires you to make up some gifts to give to those who are special in your life!!
Nothing makes my heart happier than giving a homemade gift to a friend!!
Have a Glitzy Day,
Kristii

A Little Bundle of Love, Make It Monday and Idol Worthy?

Hi there dear friends!! Today was an absolutely beautiful day!!  I am so thankful for the blue skies and warm temperatures which made weeding the garden absolutely delightful!!  I also had some serious cleaning to do, some chauffeuring, and then I was finally able to do some creating this evening!  I was so excited to use PTI's Bundle of Love stamps.  They are the cutest stamps ever!!  Of course I had to add a little Garden Variety to the mix and I am so happy with the results!! I used the PTI Make It Monday challenge.

Make It Monday #20: Reverse Masking

I have also been contemplating the Gallery Idol Competiton and I finally feel like I have a project worthy of entering.  I am so intimidated by the amazing artists that have entered, but you never know unless you try!  So here goes!

I used a Spellbinders Nestability to die cut a circle out of some computer paper that was cut to the same size as my focal point cardstock base. I used removable tape to glue the die cut to the cardstock.  I stamped a border stamp from PTI's Night, Night Moon stamp set inside the circle.  I used a Tim Holtz blending tool to add ink inside the circle as well.  I just love the little circle of moon and stars this technique created!  I fussy cut the stork and baby and I die cut the fence and added some Garden Variety stamps to create a sweet little scene.

I outlined the stork with a ROOO Copic marker to add some color and I inked everything with Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink.  I also inked the Spring Rain cardstock with Fresh Snow ink to soften the background.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  PTI Spring Rain and Vintage Cream
PTI Stamps:  Bundle Of Love, Garden Variety and Night, Night Moon
Ink:  PTI Dark Chocolate, Fresh Snow, and Spring Rain; Tim Holtz Tea Dye, Crushed Olive and Worn Lipstick Distress Ink
PTI Dies:  Picket Fence
SpellBinders Dies: Small Standard Circles
Copic Marker:  R000

I appreciate you taking time to stop by my blog today!!
You are the best!

Happy Monday dear friends!! I've been having some fun with Glitz Designs Whatnots and stamps today!!  First up is a sweet little card using Clear Stamps and Whatnots from the from the Laced with Grace Collection and  papers and stickers from the Afternoon Muse Collection.  I love that these lines are so easy to mix and match!  It totally gets my creative juices flowing knowing that the possibilities are endless!!
I stamped the top and bottom of the card base.  The top stamp is the newsprint from the Laced with Grace Collection. I just love the newsprint design! I will keep it close by my craft table because I know it's one I will use continually!!
I cut out the Whatnots so I could pair the cute little boy and girl with the heart.  Love the way that turned out! I added a little bloom from my stash to add some more sweetness to the focal point.  I layered the Afternoon Muse Banner paper with the Afternoon Muse cardstock stickers to add visual interest.  Such a fun little card to give to a good friend!

Next up is a less feminine approach just perfect for a husband and wife relative or friend you may be missing.  I paired up the Afternoon Muse Hot Air Balloon stamp and Peek a Boo transparencies with a Laced with Grace Paper Layer.
I stamped the hot air balloon three times, fussy cut and paper pieced them together onto the paper layer.  I also cut the Peek a Boo frame and used it to add a splash of color to the top of my card.

I added some lace, burlap and buttons to add texture to the card.

Feeling Sentimental

Hi there dear friends!!  Today is my 27th wedding anniversary and my heart is feeling a little sentimental!  I remember when we were first married.  We thought people who were married for 10 years were amazing!  Little did we know how quickly time would go by.  I can honestly say I love him more today than yesterday.  We have come through good times and difficult times and our love has stayed strong and I am so very thankful for my husband.  He's my very best friend and I would be lost without him!  Thank you sweetie for 27 wonderful years!!!
My heart just smiles when I see this picture!  We have love written all over our faces!  I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Since my heart is very nostalgic today, I thought it would be fun to use the current CardPatterns sketch to make a wedding card.  Here's the sketch:
and here's my take on the sketch:
I played with my Copic Markers and Websters Pages Country Estates Papers.
Here's a close-up of the rose:

Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream
Stamps:  Papertrey Ink Year of Flowers Rose

I have to apologize for my photos lately.  The light in my studio went out and it needs a new ballast which my sweet hubby hasn't had time to change.  Hopefully it will be working again soon.  I haven't found a good photography solution yet!

Thanks for stopping by!!
Hope you have the best day ever!

Little Bitty Bird and Garden Variety take 4

Hi again dear friends!  I hope you are having a spectacular day.  Mine has been interesting, that's for sure!
Our power was out for about 45 minutes this morning and now my tv is not working.  It is so quiet without the tv.  I know I keep it on while I'm working at my scrap table for the noise effect more than I watch it in all honesty, but it is so weird without it on!  Thank goodness it's just the tv.  Not life shattering events that's for sure.  You just realize how much you depend on something when you lose it!  Thank goodness we can never lose the Love of the Lord.  He is always there and is the same yesterday, today and forever!  Amen.

When the lights came back on I was able to finish up the fourth in a series of projects I've been working on using PTI's Garden Varitey and Little Bitty Bird stamps.  I just love this little set and I hope you do too!

Here's the fourth card:
I used the Seed Packet stamps in addition to the fence and the watering can and the sentiment is so true!!  Thank goodness for the friends in our lives!  They definitely add color and fragrance to our lives that's for sure!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  PTI Kraft, Vintage Cream, Spring Moss
Stamps and Dies:  PTI Garden Variety, Little Bitty Bird, Picket Fence, Merry Little Christmas, Wildflower Garden
Ink:  Tim Holtz Distress Ink Worn Lipstick, Tea Dye, Crushed Olive, Pumice Stone; Memento Rich Cocoa;

Here's the whole set:

One of my favorite card sets to date!!!
Thanks for stopping by and joining me in this Garden Variety-Little Bitty Bird journey!
Have a wonderful day,

Monday Morning Fun

Happy Monday dear friends!!  It's a lovely day here in Southwestern Montana!  The skies are partly cloudy and rain is forecast for today.  I was able to get out of the house early this morning for my run and what a blessing it was to enjoy the calm before the storm!  School has been out for a week and I am so happy to say that I have made some very positive life changes in this short period of time! I am eating very healthy and exercising most every day.  I've lost 4.5 lbs. just with those small changes...whoo hooo!  That thrills me beyond measure!  I am finally realizing that I have spent so much time taking care of my kids and worrying about them, that I have let myself go terribly.  My health is most important.  Reading and relaxing have moved up a couple of notches on my priority list as well as getting outside and enjoying the day!  I also working very hard to be ready for the opening of the Farmer's Market.  I'm not going to have as much done as I would have liked, but this will be a learning process and we'll see how it goes!  Lord willing, it will be a profitable summer and I will be ready to take on the school year when it arrives!

This morning I made the third card in my Garden Variety Little Bitty Bird card set.  This time I also incorporated the tree from Merry Little Christmas and sentiment from Wildflower Garden as well.
I just love this sentiment.  Old friends are precious and such an important part of our lives.  In fact, they own a place deep in our heart! Thank the Lord for good friends!!
I added some lace to the bucket using inspiration from Melissa Phillips, who is absolutely amazing by the way, and I added a small little bow to make this little card as sweet as can be!

Supplies used:

Cardstock:  PTI Kraft, Vintage Cream, Spring Moss
Stamps and Dies:  PTI Garden Variety, Little Bitty Bird, Picket Fence, Merry Little Christmas, Wildflower Garden
Ink:  Tim Holtz Distress Ink Worn Lipstick, Tea Dye, Crushed Olive, Pumice Stone; Memento Rich Cocoa;

Copic Markers: RV 13 Tender Pink, RV 14 Begonia Pink, R 20 Blush

Thanks for stopping by!!! I wish you an absolutely wonderful day!!!

Peace, Love, and Wee Memories

Happy Friday dear friends!! I have to be honest, I didn't even realize that it was Friday as I sat down to write this.  Such is the joy of summer break!!  Ahhhh, it just feels so good to live an unscheduled life for a bit.  I don't think I would like it year round, but it is heavenly during the summer months!  This is the first summer that I have been empty nested, and I tell you the house is very quiet during the day.  I get up early with my sweetie and have some peaceful quiet time doing my devotions.  What a blessing it is to not rush through, but to take my time and enjoy the word and apply it to my life!  My favorite time of the day, however, is when my sweetie arrives home.  I am so thankful for the love we share and I need to plan a fun and exciting anniversary celebration.  If anyone has any ideas, I would love for you to share them.  I only have 6 days to figure it out, yikes, time is flying by.

In the meantime, I have a fun little card to share.  This little card is #2 in a series of four that I am creating with Papertrey Ink's Garden Variety stamp and die set.  I don't know if you noticed, but I have added a little birdie from my other favorite set, Little Bitty Bird to these cards.  It's so fun to combine all my PTI loves together!!!  I created this for the Wee Memories Challenge #59 which is an Anything Goes Challenge!  Whoo hoo!  I love these challenges because the sky is the limit and you are free to go wherever your creative brain takes you!!!

Here's the Challenge:
Here's my take on the Challenge:
For this challenge, I embossed two layers of the card and created my sweet little garden scene on a PTI Tag.
Of course, I had to add the sweet little bitty bird!  I love, love, love those sweet little birdies!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  PTI Kraft, Vintage Cream, Spring Moss
Stamps and Dies:  PTI Garden Variety, Little Bitty Bird, Beautiful Blooms II #3, Picket Fence
Embossing Folders:  Stampin' Up! Framed Tulip, Cuttlebug Swiss Dot
Ink:  Tim Holtz Distress Ink Worn Lipstick, Tea Dye, Crushed Olive, Pumice Stone; Memento Rich Cocoa; PTI Fresh Snow
Felt: PTI Hibiscus Burst
PTI Button Twine

Smiles and Card Patterns

Good Morning dear friends!!! How fun it is to be able to post in the morning now that school is out!!!  I am blessed to have this time and I am so thankful!  I have been smiling since school was out and I want to share those smiles with you!!!

I have so many reasons to smile and here are just a few of the reasons I'm smiling today:
My Sweetie
My Kids
Reading my morning devotions
Sunshine (or the thought of those golden rays on this cloudy day)
Gardening
The sweet scent of lilacs...mmmmm....
The beautiful melodies of the birdies outside my window
Running
Papercrafting
Speaking of smiling, early this morning I was filled with joy as I created a sweet little card using CardPatterns Sketch 118.  Here's the sketch:
and here's my take on the sketch:
I pulled out my PTI Garden Variety Stamps for this sketch!!  I love those stamps!!!  Ok, I know I say that about all PTI stamps, but these stamps have totally captured my heart.  I think it's because I can make those sweet little pink flowers and the grassy stems!!  I love them!

Supplies Used:
PTI Stamps: Garden Variety, Little Bitty Bird
MME Stamps: Stella Rose
PTI Dies:  Garden Variety, Picket Fence, Little Bitty Bird, Flower Fusion #4
PTI Cardstock:  Vintage Cream, Spring Moss, Kraft, Lemon Tart
Patterned Paper: The Girls' Paperie
Tim Holtz Distress Ink:  Worn Lipstick, Pumice Stone, Tea Dye
Memento Rich Cocoa Ink

Make it Monday Challenge

Hi there dear friends!!!!  I hope all is well with you and you are enjoying your summer months!  I am certainly enjoying summer since school is out and I have time to do those things I have been needing and wanting to do!!!  I spent Monday finishing up planting the garden and flower beds and what a good feeling that was!  Today it's raining outstide and I'm spending some time getting ready for the Farmer's Market.  I have lot's to do, but creating is so theraputic that my soul is being refreshed for sure!  I have been wanting to make some banners to see for the market and I figured out a way to participate in the Make it Monday Challenge and check another project off my list!!!  Whooo hooo!  I love it when things come together!!!

Here's the challenge:

Make It Monday #18: Adding Texture with Tissue Paper

Take a peek at the MIM video! You will love this technique!! I guarantee it!!

Here's my take on the challenge:
I decided it would work perfectly to alter the letters with Betsy's tissue paper technique and I am loving the results!

I cut out the letters on the Cricut machine using the A Child's Year Cartridge.  The size of the letters is 2.75 inches.
You can see the subtle difference the tissue paper made.
I mounted the letters on Papetrey Ink's Mat Stack 1 tag.
I added a Tim Holtz Pearl Bauble between each of the Boxy Banners.
I dyed the natural flowers with Tattered Angels Cherub Pink mist.

Supplies used:  Pink Paislee:  Butterfly Garden Papers and Ephemera;  Papertrey Ink: Mat Stack 1 Die,  Boxy Banner Die, Mat Stack 1 Stamp Collection, Button Twine, Sweet Blush Cardstock; Tim Holtz by Ranger: Baubles, Crushed Olive and Tea Dye Distress Ink; Prima: Roses and Lace; Tattered Angels Cherub Pink Mist; Recycled Tissue Paper; Cricut Cartridge: A Child's Year.

What a fun project this was!!! Thanks for the inspiration Papertrey Ink!!!  My heart has been filled with creative goodness and it makes me smile!!!

Thanks for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog!!!
You are so special and I am thankful for you!
